Design and Material Considerations of Ball Valves

In jam seat design, as the name suggests, the chair ring is compressed by the flow controller chunk during assembly. Metal Seats

In trunnion designs, the top and bottom seats are backed with 2 springs, while floating ball valves just a single spring is used to keep contact pressure. Flexible metal or graphite chair rings will be best fitted to temperature, flow control applications. Metal seats are also suitable for applications that use abrasive solids in the process fluid.
